A new swash-plate engine from an Australian inventor has captured the interest of the University of California in Riverside (UCR).
The 120-pound OX2 engine has only three major moving parts, yet delivers as much torque as a typical V8, says Steve Manthey, its inventor.
A barrel block with eight cylinders rotates while the head and cam remain stationary. Cylinders and pistons operate in pairs, each firing twice per revolution. See it run at www.ox2engine.com.
UCR will evaluate the engine's power and emissions output, and suggest ways to improve it. In exchange, UCR gets a million shares of stock from its licensing agent, Advanced Engine Technologies of Albuquerque, N.M.
